Using the pavement
All of London's pedestrian crossings are accessible, with tactile paving, audible signals and/or rotating cones on the pushbutton units.
Some crossings have pedestrian countdown systems to show how much time you have left to cross the road.
Many crossings are level with the pavement. This makes it easier to cross and also helps to slow down traffic.
Legible London maps are being installed across the capital to make it easier to find your way. You can also find them at station entrances and bus shelters.

Ramps have been introduced to improve access and many footbridges are being widened, replaced or upgraded. Rest levels let you take a break while crossing footbridges.
A growing number of bus stops have raised kerbs, allowing bus ramps to be used more easily.
